Terms of Service

In plain words: we verify that a party controls a domain at a point in time, and we keep public records of what we observed. We do not certify that anyone is honest, solvent, safe, or legal. Verification is not insurance. Always do your own diligence.

1. What our verification states

A "Verified" record states exactly and only: (a) at the stated timestamp, a DNS TXT record matching our one-time token existed for the stated domain, confirmed by at least two of three independent public resolvers; (b) the stated address has been attributed and active in our public census since the stated date; (c) automated re-verification ran on the schedule published in our changelog. Nothing else is stated, implied, or warranted.

2. No warranty

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, PayCensus Labs disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Verification does not confirm the honesty, solvency, legality, or continued control of any party. Domain hijacking, DNS compromise, or fraud may occur after verification; our re-verification and public revocation list are risk-reduction measures, not guarantees.

3. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from or related to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or funds lost in any transaction.

4. No third-party beneficiaries

These terms bind only us and the verified party. A person or entity that transacts with a verified party has no contract with us and no claim under these terms. Public display of a badge does not create a duty of care toward transacting parties.

5. Your responsibilities

Verified parties must maintain the DNS record, keep their contact email deliverable, and promptly report compromise of their domain. We may re-verify automatically on the published schedule and suspend or revoke records deterministically per the published rules. Misuse of our badge (displaying it for an unverified entity) is prohibited.

6. Public records

Verification events, revocations, and reinstatements are public, append-only, and integrity-anchored. They are facts about our process, not judgments about any party.

7. Changes

We may change these terms and the verification rules; material changes are published in the changelog with a new service version. Continued use after publication constitutes acceptance.

8. Operator & governing law

Operator: PayCensus Labs. Contact: [email protected]. The contracting entity and governing law will be formalized as the service graduates from founding tier; this draft v0.1.0 governs until superseded.
